What we'll be doing in 2015

What we've done in 2015

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Welcome back to spring term 2015, wow what a year 2014 turned out to be. Over the Christmas break I have been looking back over the year, the Viking Cubs had an amazing year.

Since the introduction of operation cherry pick we have seen record numbers of young people attend litter picks and the Remembrance day parade. We continue with operation cherry pick with more litter picks, St George day parade, and the Gala coming up.

Not only are we thinking about 2015 but also looking towards 2016 which marks 100 years of Cub Scouting.

In 1916 Baden Powell had 30,000 cubs join the scouting movement, now we have over 150,000 cubs in the uk.

2015 has been named the year of fun and adventure, building up to the biggest party Sherburn Scout group have seen. As we join with all cub packs across the UK and world as we all renew our promise and be come one voice.

The Viking leadership team have a lot of planning to do our activity's will be focused on the outdoors, with the theme Fun and Adventure.

We welcome 3 new cubs in to our pack and we look forward watching them grow and develop in the way of scouting.

My self and the Leadership team look forward in working with you.

Yours in Scouting

Mix the dry ingredients, add the wet ingredients, stir well & add a few chocolate buttons.

All the Cubs sucseeded in creating what can only be described as a material harder than Rock.

We finished off with a game of Crab Football & Defend / Attack the Tower.

Lazerzone - Thursday 11th Dec. 2014

Well the Viking cubs had a fantastic time at Laser zone, one game of every cub for him/her self & then a team game - Defend the Bases!!!

Everyone then enjoyed Hotdog & Fries

Finally Martin Selby - Chikai was invested as a leader and a member of the world wide scout movement - Welcome to the scouting family.

Rover Scouts - Thursday 9th Oct.2014

The Cubs had a visit from the Pontefract Rover Scouts on Thursday.

The cubs were shown how to correctly handle a knife & told about all the different types of Axe’s and which should be used for each task.

The Cubs were shown how to do a square lashing with 2 poles & they also practised tying reef knots.

After the practical, the Cubs were marched into the Centenary room for an enthralling history lesson revolving around the origins of the scouts & our founder Robert Baden-Powell.

United Autosports - Thursday 2nd Oct. 2014

Our Visit to United Autosports was a fantastic evening, the Cubs were shown several amazing race cars, some of which were raced by the likes of Michael Schumacher & James Hunt.

The Cubs were also shown more recent cars like the Audi R8 LMS Ultra, Ginetta G55 & the Toyota Avensis which currently races in the British Touring Car Championship.

The last Race of the Touring Car season will be on ITV 4, Sunday 12th October.

Everyone, including Leaders got to take a seat in the Audi R8 to get a feel of how thrilling it must be to be a racing driver.

Visit the united Autosports Gallery.

Wormery - Thursday 25th September 2014

Last Thursday evening we completed the work on our science badge.

All the children made a Wormery using a plastic bottle, painted card, some dirt, sand, leaves and a handful of juicy worms.

Chill got their minds ticking over coming up with a chant which the cubs will be performaing later in the year.
